Description
The Town of Ashcroft sprang up in the late 1880's, as precious metal prospectors pushed west into the Castle creek Valley. At one time, the population grew to roughly 2100. Approximately 5 years after it was born, Ashcroft went bust as the silver deposits were small, and Aspen had access to railroads and larger silver deposits. Today all that is left are the remnants of 10 buildings and the ghosts of miners past.
